Thoughts on Birth & Death

When you were born,

          You were crying

               and everyone else around you

               was smiling.

Live your life so that:

When you die,

          You’re the one smiling

               and everyone around you

               is crying.

Is it the Beginning or the End of another day?

Reflect:   What is this photo saying?  What question, questions does it evoke, stir up within?  What does it tell you about YOU;  about YOUR relationship to the universe;  about time and the quality of how you are using it;  about this very moment – only here once, never to return;  about ultimate meaning;  about why are YOU here  now, this moment?

Be Still – – – and Know

I love your poem. Now, perhaps we can figure out how we can leave smiling at a life well lived and those behind are happy knowing that we had a rich life that will continue. Your blog is unique, Jack. I like the way you ask people to really stop and think about how they are living their lives. We must not die with regret, but rather with the joy of knowing that every moment has made a beautiful patchwork quilt of unique design, carefully stitched with loving awareness. I send you a monkey hug from the jungles of Brazil. Hugs, pat
